"Hi, I'm Glenn,
Screen Rescue Birmingham
franchisee"

"Welcome to my Q&A Spotlight!"

"I live within easy reach of the city of Birmingham with my partner and two kids, so it's fairly easy to operate across all 'B' postcodes.

What's important to me? Living close to my clients means I can provide them with exceptional customer services and outstanding repair results. It's very rewarding to be part of the local business community and I'm happy to report the business has far surpassed any expectations I may have had!"

You've completed your first month in business, what have been your highs?

From signing my first customer on my second day, to getting agreement to service all six Birmingham sites in a major car franchise chain. I’m consistently seeing the relief and savings my repair services can provide to my fleet customers, and the pace of me winning new business has led to me more than doubling my revenue target for month one trading. I’m rammed!

You’ve operated a full month, and the results are in, so where are you against your business plan target?

Well I'm happy to report that I was able to deliver record breaking first months results, which were 225% above business plan target and month two is already looking to give a result in a similar percentage above my business plan target. This of course means that the business opportunity has far surpassed any expectations I may have had initially.

Talk me through why Saturdays are important to your clients too?

Saturdays are especially important to the transport sectors and HGV fleet operators. Because vehicles are on the road from Monday to Friday, Saturdays are often the only window in which the vehicles are in the yard available for repairs. My clients can take advantage of their vehicles being repaired on Saturday’s so this minimises any weekday downtime and disruption.

Were there any lows and if so, how did you cope with them?

The biggest challenges so far have probably been weather related as it can take longer to repair windscreens and can be technically more challenging in wet and ice-cold conditions.

Being a little more strategic and planning jobs at clients with under cover areas can certainly help in combatting this kind of issue.

Share the top three reasons why your clients use your company?

My repair services genuinely save our commercial clients a significant amount of time and money. I can eliminate shocking replacement windscreen costs and for my dealerships, this improves their profitability. For my HGV clients I’m able to keep their fleets on the roads, reducing downtime, and with our leading repair systems, I guarantee consistent results every time.

We are heading into the New Year. What milestones are you most looking forward to achieving in 2023?

In 2023, the first milestone needed is to continue my sales efforts to grow the numbers of clients ergo giving a consistent and reliable revenue stream for the business. On my last count I've opened 47 new clients in two months.  My eventual milestone would be to look at the possibility of taking on a second van and new technician before the end of the year.

How does the Screen Rescue business model live up to your expectations?

The equipment and operating systems really do exactly what they say on the tin. This as a franchisee gives you a very high degree of confidence that you can deliver a consistently high quality and repeatable service to your clients no matter what the circumstance or industry sector. It's a real win: win for us both.

When a client needs a job doing the same day, what happens next?

The big advantage of my business being based in the Birmingham 'B' postcode area and only servicing these clients means if a callout is received in the morning, I can complete the repair on the same day. I've found lots of my Birmingham clients were being serviced by competitors from Leicestershire and Gloucestershire, which means a same day response is highly unlikely.

What is the advice you’d give to anyone considering a Screen Rescue franchise?

I'd say, carry out your due diligence and physical market research in the postcode territory you are seriously considering and if your findings and the demographics along with the financial numbers look promising then definitely give it a go. Your future is out there if you grab it with both hands and you are willing to work hard to make the business a success. It's low risk with high return.
